Solent Boat Training is an RYA advanced powerboat training centre in Southampton with the largest powerboat training fleet in the UK. With 4 motor boats, 7 rib boats and 3 jet skis all solely owned by the training centre we have the boats, instructors and experience to deliver whatever level of boat training you require.

RYA Powerboat Level 2 - A Perfect Place To Start
The RYA National Powerboat course also known as the level 2 is the most popular course we run. We have 3 dedicated rib boats that allow us to match your experience if any to the right size boat. This course is perfect for absolute beginners or those after some formal training to iron out those little issues. Also the powerboat level 2 entitles you to the ICC international powerboat license for boats up to 10 metres in length.
RYA Powerboat Intermediate, Advanced & Beyond
We strongly beleive that training gives you the confindence to enjoy your precious time spent boating. Just a couple of extra days is the difference for most people to expand their horizons and really enjoy this fanstatic hobby.
Going on from just a hobby we can offer you a full range of commercial training courses known as commercial endorsements from day skipper, advanced powerboat to full yachtmaster exams.
RYA Powerboat Course are run on our own fleet of 5 Ribcraft and Redbay rib boats all moored with Ocean Village marina only 300 yards from our dedicated classroom. We offer every RYA powerboat from the introductory level 1 to the challenging powerboat advanced course. We run courses all year which are listed on our course calendars. We will also run most courses on any date for groups of 2 or more.
RYA Powerboat Level 1 Course - £129 Book it
Aimed at the very beginner, this 1 day course gives a great overview and taste of powerboat handling, navigation, safety and key features of powerboating. Even though this course is an excellent place to start we recommend the level 2 course as the starting point for most adult student. More RYA level 1 course details here.
RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course - £249 Book it
This level 2 course is the most popular training that the RYA offer via its recognised training centres. You will spent most of this 2 day course on the waters of the Solent on any of our 3 Ribcraft rib boats. Short spells in our dedicated classroom teach you navigation, chart work and other essential knowledge to marry with those slow and high speed boat handling skills that our RYA instructor will teach you. RYA Powerboat Intermediate Course - £269 Book it
The intermediate powerboat course is the natural follow on from the level 2 course. Skills will be practised, theory levels deepened and more experience gained over the 2 days of the course. We offer students the chance to plan and run longer pilotage and explore the Solent more than they did on the level 2 course.
It is my opinion that the intermediate course is the level that any powerboat owner should aim to reach with those wishing to make night runs moving onto the advanced course.

RYA Powerboat Advanced Course - £299 Book it
As the principal of Solent Boat Training my role includes assigning an RYA instructor to each course, I never have any problems with volunteers to teach the RYA powerboat advanced course. Another 2 day course with the first day including a night session, so in real terms it`s a 2.5 day course. A completed theory course is also a must for any advanced course student, which we can help with.
All your existing skills will be reinforced during this course and new skills such a night pilotage, search patterns, back bearings and more detailed charter work are all included. The Solent by night is a must, but even better on our Redbay Stormforce rib. More RYA Advanced course details here.
