Roy was a brilliant instructor from start to finish. He taught us last year and we were able to obtain our licence but wanted a quick refresh this year and insisted on having him again. His patience and knowledge made learning to drive a motor boat both fun and easy to understand. We gained so much confidence and couldn’t recommend Roy more highly.

I did the Start Yachting course which was lead by Tim. He was absolutely fantastic - friendly, clear, and an overall excellent instructor. I was a little apprehensive as I am a little practically challenged and hard of hearing, but he was super patient with me and the pace of the course was really nice. I came away absolutely certain I will return to top things up to competent crew. I had a fantastic time and really enjoyed myself and wholeheartedly recommend this course to anyone who’s curious about sailing. Thank you and see you soon!

I completed my RYA Advanced Powerboat (Day & Night) with Solent Boat Training over the Easter weekend, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. It was a real privilege to be trained by Kevin Earl - a retired Master who enjoys teaching and sharing his knowledge with people choosing a career at sea. His experience, calm approach, and practical guidance made a big difference throughout the course. We had true Solent conditions, which made the training even more valuable. It wasn’t just textbook learning - it was real, hands-on experience in challenging weather, which really helps build confidence. The whole course was professional, well organised, and very enjoyable. I learned a lot and felt I improved significantly in a short time. I will definitely be back for further training and highly recommend Solent Boat Training to anyone serious about developing their skills on the water.

Great 5-day Competent Crew course with a clear structure and steady progression throughout the week. I started with very little experience and left feeling confident with the basics. Bella our instructor was excellent, calm, clear, and very supportive. Explained things in a way that made sense and built confidence quickly. A really enjoyable and worthwhile experience. I’d definitely recommend it.
