Once in the open water it is essential to maintain good control of a vessel under sail. This will ensure safe and efficient sailing through all points of sail.
Understanding how your sails effect your boats performance, is a key skill required of a Skipper and with practice, you can complete a number of manoeuvres, such as picking up a mooring buoy and conducting the M.O.B drill quickly and successfully.
Knowing when to Reef is another important consideration if operating in windier conditions. Coordination and between skipper and crew will ensure that the vessel remains safe and under control at all times.

Sailing onto a mooring buoy, reefing, sail trim and man overboard are things we don`t often practice when out sailing day to day, so this one day event will help you practice areas such as:
Raising and dropping sails
Tack & Gybe
Adding and removing main sail reefs
Man over board recovery under sail
Sailing a fixed triangular course
Sailing onto a mooring buoy
The RYA sailing instructor running the day, will offer valuable guidance and instructions onboard one of our 37ft or 38ft Bavaria Sail Cruising Yacht, to help hone your sailing skills.
The day runs from 9am to 5pm and costs from £99 per person depending on the seasonal rate.
Please bring a packed lunch for the day, as food is not included during this one day event.
