Spend A Day Practicing Marina Skills
Once in a while it is worth taking time to practice the skills required to make marina work easier & less stressful for all those involved.
Our Highly Experienced Instructor can help improve your confidence, with one of our Yacht Marina Skills and Handling Events. This is a great way of learning new skills, whilst operating you vessel under power. Practice in a variety of wind and tidal conditions to better understand how to manoeuvre confidently and safely in different situations.

Returning back to the Marina after a great days sailing is often the most daunting and sometimes demanding part of the day.
Areas covered include:-
General Berthing and Coming Alongside
Springing On & Off in various states of Wind and Tide
Turns in Confined Spaces
Reversing onto and into a Berth
Crew Management & Encouragement
The course runs from from 9am to 5pm approximately and costs from £99 per person, season dependant.
For these Skills days, we will provide you with an experienced RYA Sailing Instructors and one of our 37ft Sail Training Yachts, to help hone your own Marina Skills and improve them further.
In addition, you will be acting as the crew for each other throughout the course of the day, to further enhance your team building skills, a vital requirement of a good & competent Skipper.
The day runs from 9am to 5pm, please bring a packed lunch.
Required experience to attend this course is to at least the level of RYA Competent Crew or above.

After some time, I got back to SBT for more experience and knowledge how to handle the boat on tidal water marinas. The course was very good value for money. Thanks to instructor Matt Thomas I achieved my learning target. Calm, professional and experienced sailor. Very good methodology of teaching and patience.

Our instructor Jude was excellent, really relaxed, knowledgeable and inspired confidence in us all. He allowed us to practice various mooring techniques, including working with and against the wind & tide, slow speed boat control (sailing boat under power) and provided plenty of opportunity to practice rope skills (lassoing, tying to cleats, springing and slipping), plus bringing the boat alongside pontoons from all directions. A great day building confidence in handling and turning the boat in tight spaces. Highly recommended!
