RYA Commercial Endorsement Boat Training Courses
What is a Commercial Endorsement?
This is a requirement for working on board British flagged vessels which are subject to the MCA's (Maritime & Coastguard Agency) codes of practice for small commercial vessel.
The completion of a number of additional training courses and gaining a medical fitness certificate, will also be required to meet the eligibility for a commercial endorsement.
Solent Boat Training can help with all types of RYA commercial endorsements and supporting training courses.
The following certificates can receive the standard commercial endorsement:
Course completion certificates: (No Exam Required)
RYA National Powerboat Certificate - Level 2
RYA National Powerboat Certificate - Advanced (only if issued before January 1, 2005)
RYA Day Skipper practical course completion certificate, supported by a *Day Skipper shorebased course completion certificate.
*The Day Skipper shorebased course may be completed online or in a classroom, however, in either case the exams must be invigilated.
Certificates of competence: (Gained By Exam Passed)
RYA Advanced Powerboat Certificate of Competence
RYA Yachtmaster Coastal Certificate of Competence
RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competence
RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate of Competence
The higher you progress on the above list, basically allows you to skipper larger boats, further from shore and in worsening conditions such as night time and poor weather.
Commercial Endorsements With The Solent Boat Training
Initial Commercial Training Boat
Our Redbay Stormforce 650`s are powered by a 175 hp engine, fitted with Raymarine Axiom 9 Chartplotter, 200+ litre fuel tanks and offer incredible sea keeping performance.
These are used for our initial powerboat commercial endorsement training courses.
Intermediate & Advanced Commercial Training Boat
Our XS 750 Ribs are powered by a 200 hp Suzuki engine, has seating for up to 8, Raymarine Axiom 9 Chartplotter, 300 litre fuel tanks and incredible sea keeping performance.
These are used for our Intermediate & Advanced Powerboat courses, as well as our commercial endorsement training. They are licensed for commercial use for up to 20 miles from land.
RYA Advanced Powerboat exams require a commercially coded boat which we can provide for the exam, at a cost of £150 per student assuming 3 students are on the exam. If you wish to charter the whole vessel privately the cost will be £450, plus an additional £150 for cost of a suitably qualified Helmsman.
Your RYA exam fee is payable directly to the RYA (Not to us at SBT). The exam must be applied for prior to booking the vessel with us.
