Course Cancellation Summary

Below is a Summary of our Cancellation Policy 2024

Please Read Fully Before Booking.

CANCELLATION OTHER THAN BY SBT (We have been asked to explain our refund process - see below)

In the case of cancellation if insufficient notice is given as per details below in 1 - 3 and/or your cancelled place on the course is not filled by another student on a fee paying basis, you will forfeit the entire course fee. This is for any reason including illness, travel disruption or personal circumstances.
Please note that our terms of business do not allow client with any infectious disease including Covid to attend a booked course. Clients are strongly advised to take out cancellation insurance and reduce rise of contracting such diseases prior to attending a course or event.

1. Cancellation of a course for any reason with 28 days or more notice from the course start date will receive a refund of course fees less the admin fee detailed below.
(We have not incurred any expenses other than office administrator and bank card fees)

2. Cancellation of a course for any reason with 14 days to 27 days from the course start date will  receive a 50%  refund or a 70% discount code to use on the website to put towards another course at a later date.
(Because at this point we have to pay for all the resources needed to teach your course including boats & instructors)

3. Cancellation of a course for any reason with less than 14 days notice from the course date will not receive a refund. We will try and sell their place to recover some funds for the client.
(Because we have already paid out for the resources needed to teach your course but do not have time to resell the place)

4. All course date changes & cancellations incur a flat rate administration fee of £35 per place booked. This fee is automatically charged to the payment method used for the initial booking.

5. Special events such as Cowes Week, Cross Channel Sailing and Racing are not eligible for the 14 day change of date offer as detailed in parts 2 & 3 above. Part 1 above still applies.

CANCELLATION BY SOLENT BOAT TRAINING

If for any reason under our control Solent Boat Training is unable to offer the confirmed course we will refund the deposit and any balance paid. Solent Boat Training will not be responsible for any other costs including accommodation or transportation if a course is cancelled. We will inform students as soon as possible if a course will not take place.

CANCELLATION DUE TO POOR WEATHER

Solent Boat Training is not responsible for "bad weather safety concern cancellation" as a result of poor weather. As a gesture of goodwill SBT will try to rearrange any course affected by weather in full or in part. However additional fees will be charged, but will be kept to a minimum, eg boat charter costs and instructor fees.
Please note that courses running in colder months of the year are already heavily discounted to reflect poorer weather and light conditions. Insurance against weather cancellation is recommended.

INSURANCE

We strongly suggest you purchase insurance to cover yourself from illness, travel issues, bad weather safety concern cancellation and other events that may affect your booking.
